Mentorship program
As a high school student, the path to figuring out your passions and unraveling college admissions can feel overwhelming. At Latinxedu, we believe in helping Latinx people realize their hopes and dreams through education. To help more students get to college, we created the Poder Mentorship Program. Latinxedu's Poder Program provides mentees with a playbook for admissions, 12-18 months of one-on-one coaching, and access to an array of resources and tools to succeed. The program features:

ELEgibility
Who can apply to become a Fellow?
Applicant must be of Hispanic/Latinx heritage
​
Currently a Sophomore in High School enrolled in the Dallas Independent School District (Class of 2023)
​
3.0 GPA minimum GPA to apply!
​
Applicants can be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (including DACA students).
Ability to complete periodic assignments and attend all virtual or in-person seminars
How to Apply
Required application details
The submission of an essay answering the following question (300 words max):

WhY do you want to be a poder mentorship fellow? What are your career aspirations?
​
In addition, we require the following:
​
An official high school transcript
​
Both documents must be submitted via our application portal.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum GPA Requirement?
Yes, the GPA requirement is 3.0 out of 4.0 to apply.
Can international students apply?
Unfortunately, at this time we are not accepting international student applicants.
What if I go to a school outside of DISD?
Unfortunately, we are currently only working with the Dallas Independent School District. We have future plans to expand our mentorship program to schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. More to come!
Can I nominate a student?
If you know a deserving student you can share the Ascender Scholarship page with someone above.
What are the document attachment requirements?
You are required to submit your essay and transcript (that is signed by your high school counselor) to our application page.
